Course Information

Delivered by William Bruce, the Head of Strings at the Junior Guildhall School of Music and Drama, the Strings & Piano UK International Summer School is ideal for talented string and piano musicians  who would like to immerse themselves in the study of their instrument.

Through in-depth tuition, by highly acclaimed international musicians who are connected with the Royal Schools of Music and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, students will have access to string, piano and choral training from some of the best music educators in the UK. Designed to broaden each student's musical experience and expose them to new and exciting aspects of music tuition. 

There will be a focus on orchestral performances, chamber groups, technique workshops, choral training and Kodály aural technique coupled with a selection of excursions. These will include a trip to London to watch a musical on London's famous West End.

 Accommodation at Clyde House

Accommodation

All accommodation is provided in the school boarding house. It offers safe, comfortable and structured accommodation in dorm-style bedrooms, a beautiful outdoor space for evening activities, catering facilities for when breakfast and dinner are served and large communal spaces for enjoying free time. It gives a truly home from home experience. Staff stay onsite with the students, helping to make their time on the course as comfortable as possible. A laundry service is provided once a week by our onsite house staff and the rooms are cleaned on a daily basis. Breakfast and dinner are served at the boarding house and lunch is served at the school in between classes.

    Excursions

    The Strings & Piano UK International Summer School is about more than just music tuition, it also provides the opportunity to visit places of cultural and musical interest in the UK. These could include a visit to a famous London Music School to experience what it would be like to be in attendance at one of the most highly acclaimed music institutions in the world. Enjoy a performance on London's famous West End. Visit Canterbury Cathedral to enjoy the choir perform Evensong. Amble along Brighton Pier, one of the most famous seaside landmarks in the country or even visit Brighton Sea life Center. Something for Everyone! 

     

     

    Tuition Fee : £1,600 (inc. Tax)

    • Eleven days of music tuition

    • Two weeks accommodation

    • Three meals a day and refreshments

    • Excursions and all admission fees

    • Airport Transfer from London Heathrow

    • Visa fees (RMB price only)

     

    Not Included

    • Medical, travel and instrument insurance

    • Flights to and from the UK

    APPLY

    Book early! We release the details about the Summer School in February and it books up quickly so act fast to secure your place. If the Summer School is full, we can place you on our waiting list. Students are required to be:

    • Grade 3 standard or above in their chosen instrument. Auditions will be carried out on the first day as a means of assessing student levels so they can be placed in appropriate classes.
    • Intermediate to advanced level of English. All music lessons will be taught in English. 
    • Age 10-17 by 23rd July 2018

    A non-refundable deposit of £300 is necessary to secure your place. If you apply after April 30th, full payment of fees will need to be paid upon application.
